One in five children in the U.S. are born with a genetic tendency toward addiction. We now estimate that every addict or alcoholic has approximately seven people who are in close relationship with them (family member, friend, etc.). With this in mind, we understand that a large percentage of families in America are in some level of crisis around this disease, a disease that is now at epidemic proportions. There is no shame in being born with any disease. But there is now hope for both the addicted, and for those who love them. With the help of others, we can all learn to live well, one day at a time.
“It stands to reason that a change in us will be a force for good, that will help the entire family.”
